Heir Bears by Jane Woodard

Please visit all the Heir Bears who came to this event just to meet you!  Some of them will be dressed up in their favorite outfit, and some of them will just be themselves, with no frills, but ready to enjoy the party.

About the Artist:  I am Jane Woodard and I have been creating real fur bears and other critters, using recycled furs, since 1999.  My fur bears are heirloom quality, fully lined with a cotton fabric to stabilize and reinforce the fur.  They are created to ensure you can pass them on to your children and grandchildren.  Recently I have added some faux fur and mohair bears to the den and they are all getting along just fine!

My bears have been featured in articles in Teddy Bear Review (including on the cover), Teddy Bear and Friends, and the latest issue of Teddy Bear Times magazines.  One of my bears is also the proud winner of a 2016 URSA award.

"STAR"

"Star" is an 11" white curly mohair bear.  She only spent a few minutes at the beach today so she doesn't have her summer tan yet, but she did find a wonderful starfish!  She is going to keep it forever since it is her namesake.

"Star" is fully jointed and stuffed with polyester fiberfill and some tummy pellets for weight.  She has matching white velvety paw pads and a hand-embroidered sky-blue Perle cotton nose.  She has imported black glass eyes.

"Star" wears a hand-dyed sky-blue and pale pink silk ribbon tied in a big bow around her neck.  She comes with a sewn-in tag and a removable hang tag.  And of course she will bring her starfish with her.

"PATSY"

"Patsy" is a mohair bear designed and sewn by fellow artist, Cathy Swieckowski.  Cathy passed away about two years ago before she could finish it.  Her husband asked that I finish several of the bears Cathy started and left behind.

"Patsy" is 10" tall, made from a cinnamon brown sparse mohair fabric.  She is fully jointed and stuffed with polyester fiberfill.  She has matching brown suedecloth paw pads, vintage black shoebutton eyes, and a hand-embroidered dark brown Perle cotton nose.

Cathy liked to use vintage accessories with her bears, so "Patsy" wears a vintage pale blue silky ribbon tied in a bow around her neck.  She comes with a removable hang tag.

"VICTORIA"

"Victoria" rules this den like a queen!  She is beige medium sparse mohair.  "Victoria" is approximately 33" tall from head to toe, but her legs are bent and she is designed to sit, not stand.  She has black glass eyes and a hand-embroidered light brown Perle cotton nose.  She is firmly stuffed with about 4 pounds of polyester fiberfill.

"Victoria" wears an antique white cotton and lace baby's christening dress.  Her shawl is vintage and is primarily deep shades of burgundy.  She wears a cameo broach and several sets of pearl necklaces (costume jewelry).  Her antique hat is black straw accented with a dark velvet ribbon and several ostrich plumes.  She even carries a small Victorian style purse.

It was difficult to take photos of "Victoria" because of her size.  She is seen here sitting in a child's high-back rocking chair, which is NOT included.  Please feel free to request more photos or close-ups of "Victoria" and I will send them by email.

"Victoria" comes with a sewn-in tag and a removable hang tag.
